BUCCAL RECESSION Buccal Recession is the exposure of the outside part of the
tooth root. This loss of gum may lead to sensitivity, poor
aesthetics or a worry about losing the tooth. The cause is
usually overbrushing a tooth which is out of alignment.
The surgery involves relocating the gum back to its original
position using membranes, proteins or tissue from the
palate. Some of the surgical techniques will not only
restore the gum position, but will also regenerate
supporting bone to the outside of the root. These
recession defects can now be treated predictably and in
most cases totally eliminated. |
